if you can’t beat’em…

6 06 2009

So I thought I’d be cool using a different blogging website, but truth is there just isn’t enough people using wordpress to continue updating here. It’s just so much easier to follow and interact with other people that use Blogger, and lets face it, everyone uses Blogger. I’m keeping my old posts here, but my new blog will now be over at frankafus.blogspot.com

Bai wordpress, it was fun, go ahead and click the image below to check out the new blog. :D

Zelda

4 06 2009

When did my blog become about video games? I don’t know. But yeah at e3 Miyamoto was interviewed and asked why the new Zelda game for wii wasn’t announced. He said Nintendo was working on it and also revealed this concept art, which people are claiming the figure near Link is a “living incarnation” of the Master Sword. HAR. I love nerds that try to speculate, maybe they’re right though.

New (wii?) Zelda artwork. Do want.

New (wii?) Zelda artwork. Do want.

I guess since my blog is about art, I’m allowed to post this. DONT TELL ME HOW TO LIVE MY LIFE.

I almost thought Nintendo would have dissapointed me this year because of how the conference was going at first, but there were lovely surprises in the end that reminded me not only why I love Nintendo, but why I love video games in general.

e3

My favorite surprise? Metroid: Other M

With so many new games on the horizon I’m definately in need of a job more than ever. On another note, I need to straighten out my priorities.

:] Today, I am reminded why I love video games and how much of a nerd I will always be.

A comeback

31 05 2009
hes back~

he's back~

It’s been a long time since I drew Cyrus and liked how it came out. Not to mention I colored something for once. I think that whole time where I didn’t have a tablet I just got so used to sketching and not coloring, then because of that slowly lost interest in drawing as well. So for a while I lost it, but I’m starting to get the “hang of drawing” again.

I mean it was always there, I just had to re-activate it?

Anyway, it feels good to have drawn something, so I thought I’d share.

Pshoooom!

And here’s the first design:

Click hither or on the picture above to visit the store and purchase billions of shirts so I’m not broke anymore. YES!

Drawing days and the rest.

25 05 2009

Why is it that somedays your drawings can come out just the way you want them too, and you can pop out several of them, but other days it’s as if the world is against you and you can’t even make a single fkn sketch right. And of course not being able to produce even a single drawing, means forget animating, cause that involves about 12 to 24 times as many drawings for one second of movement.

I think I need to draw more often. A lot more often.

Cozy Bamboo

SUCH AMAZING QUALITY

SUCH AMAZING QUALITY

I made this little cozy for my tablet, because when I don’t use it (or even if I do) it starts collecting dust, and when dust touches the oils from my hand when I’m drawing, things get ugly. Smears. ew.

So I gave it a nice wiping and sewed together this crappy cozy with some old tshirt fabrics and some buttons. Terrible build quality, but I absolutely love it.

Insatiable

18 05 2009

I really do have an insatiable appetite for software, that I probably won’t really ever use.

Isnt the packaging pretty?

Isn't the packaging pretty?

I’m so used to animating with Flash, but Toon Boom’s upcoming animating program titled Animate (Pro, also available) looks very promising. From what I’ve heard Flash is better for animations that have interactivity, such as website widgets, games, and other stuff like that. While Toon Boom Animate, focuses more on the animation itself, and has much more powerful features.

I know I’ll be getting it, atleast to try it, and who says I can’t use both! :D

Do want.

Plucking Eyebrows Hurts

A lot.

Starting from Scratch

10 05 2009

So I haven’t worked on Funny Hair 2, because I’ve had a ridiculously busy week, which is very rare. I usually have so much time on my hands, that I don’t even know what to do with it.

Its so beautiful.

It's so beautiful.

In other news, I got a copy of Richard William’s awesome 16 DVD collection seen above. Any animator who takes animation seriously knows about Richard William’s awesome book, The Animator’s Survival Kit. However not too long ago a DVD collection was released, showing workshops and in depth video basically going through the book, by Dick himself.

The price tag is pretty hefty, but the knowledge to be aqquired from it is pretty much priceless. I’m only on the 2nd DVD and I can already tell how invaluable it’s going to be for my future animations. The book is pretty complex and I’ve struggled to read it all, but the videos on the DVD’s are very easy to follow through with and to try hands on.

So again Funny Hair 2 will have a slight delay, as I try to focus on re-learning the few things I know about animation (considering everything I know is pretty much self-taught). I need to really start from scratch and absorb as much as my mind can possibly allow so that when I’m ready… reeeeally ready… I can start a decent lengthed film with good acting, sound, and most importantly the animation itself.

Wish me luck c:
